Can someone identify a source for a wooden, back-to-back glider swing for a children's playgym swin
I am trying to find a wooden, back-to-back glider swing for a children's playgym swingset like the one pictured here from Cedar Works Playsets: http://www.flickr.com/photos/87013076@N00/989348671/ Unfortunately, Cedar Works will not sell the swings to anyone that doesn't have one of their playsets and I don't. All I can find are molded plastic glider swings, but I want the wood glider instead. It would need to be shipped to the U.S. and I hope to pay under $200. Maybe there is a custom woodworker out there somewhwere that could make me one. Thanks for any sources you might know of.
Sadly, I had the same difficulty you did in searching for a wooden, back-to-back glider. All I found were molded plastic ones--but for the ... See More
How can I revitalize an old wood bench?
I just bought a wooden glider-bench at a garage sale. It seems in fair shape, no rot and minimal rust, but the wood is VERY dry. It has some remnants of an old stain finish still in it; I'm certain it isn't paint. After sanding it down to remove the rough places, how can I put some glow back into the wood? Wax? Oil? Special finish? Any help is greatly appreciated.
If you don't want to varnish or paint, try a wood stain. It will sort of bring the wood "back to life", and you will be able to see the ... See More
Help - Repairing wooden glider?
I need to separate the wooden parts of a glider to replace a broken leg. I removed all the screws but found that the large base and spindles are glued and I don't want to damage them to remove the broken piece
Usually a glue joint is stronger than the surrounding wood, so this is a really hard thing to do. Prying or using a spreader will usually ... See More
I want some information regarding the dimensions of a glider...?
Can any professional guide me on how to go about with the dimensions of a glider i.e 1.What should be the ratio of the length of the main body to the lenght of the wings 2.What should be the ratio of the lenght of the main body to its breadth (main body of the glider is a wooden strip 3 mm thick and 3 inch wide)etc. (My glider has the main body consisiting of balsa wood and wings are of aluminium sheet)
I'm not quite sure is your glider hard-winged or not. Size of a glider is to be determined by your body weight and your needs for specific ... See More

How do I sew a slip cover for one of those wooden gliders?
I have a wooden glider and stool that I bought when my daughter was born. I now want to move it into a different room and I would like to make a slip cover to put over it since it is pink. Any suggestions?
Does the glider and its stool have a cushion? If so, you could just cover the cushions, which should be fairly easy. If you want to cover ... See More
What I would do is just duplicate whatever is there already. You have the pattern. It's on the glider. Take all the fabric stuff off, and ... See More

How do I stop a creeky wooden glider from creeking?
This glider rocking chair is only 6 years old and it creaks so badly! We have tried replacing all the bolts, soaking the wood in water, silicone, oil and nothing seems to be working. It is really, really creeky and it seems to me it's because the wood is just so dried out. The creeking is coming from the dried out wood, like I said.
You didn't say where the creaking was coming from, but I can think of 2 possibilities.....first, make sure that all of your fasteners are ... See More
The creaking is a result of one piece of wood rubbing past another. The creaking is coming from a joint. Think of a squeaking floor -- the ... See More
Sealing/waterproofing wooden glider?
I have a small wooden glider on my deck, I believe it is oak or pine. I have stripped off the old, weathered finish and want to re-finish it now. It is in full sun during the summer & I need advice as to what to use that would provide maximum protection for the wood, would prefer a transparent or translucent finish. Thanks!
